Transitions

Transitions can be challenging.

It can be challenging to transition from sleep to wake in the morning.

It can be challenging to transition from light to darkness in the winter.

It can be challenging to transition from one job to another, one city to another, one lifestyle to another.

As we know though, this challenge does not necessarily indicate the inferiority of what we are moving toward.

So then why are transitions challenging?

They are challenging because of our discomfort with the unfamiliar. They are challenging because of our uncertainty about the unknown.

Yet nothing is certain. Nothing is known.

Our fears may materialize irrespective of where we are, who we are with, or what we are doing.

And it is at these times of transition that we also experience the remains of novelty that are left in our world.

This novelty may be pronounced and it may be subtle, though it will only reveal itself to us if we give it the space and attention that it deserves.
