Our Post-Traumatic Growth

--

Traumatic experiences can leave a person feeling threatened, unstable, and anxious.

For many people, such experiences create a lasting struggle.

Some people though are able to yield a positive life outcome from a traumatic experience. This is referred to as post-traumatic growth. For some, PTG can cultivate a greater appreciation for life, personal strength, and clarity about priorities.

The past year seems to have been a period of collective trauma. From COVID to hyper-partisan politics to the economic downturn — society itself is unstable and threatened.

As we begin to turn the corner on this period of trauma, the question remains…how will we come out on the other end?

Will the struggle of this experience linger with us…or can we emerge collectively better than we entered?

Will it make us stronger?

Will we develop a clearer understanding of what is most important?

Will we come away with a greater appreciation for life — not just as individuals, but as a society too?
